Currently, I’m a Principal Product Manger at Skyscanner, a global travel company that serves millions of travellers every day.
The thread that runs throughout my career is my passion for delivering value through great user experiences.
Previously, I’ve worked at the Scottish Government. I was the Head of Product in the Digital Public Services team at the Scottish Government. We made mygov.scot, which is the central point for information and services provided by the Scottish Government and its key partners. We’ve also created our in-house Publishing Platform to drive it.
Prior to that, I was Product Manager for Ginsberg.io – an ambitious project using technology to improve the mental wellbeing of the Scottish population. It was also a Scottish Government project.
Between 2009 – 2015, I was Managing Director for Interface3 and Tigerface Games. My background is in UX design with a passion for Games design too. Formally, I have a PhD in Informatics (Computer Science) from Edinburgh University.
I spent most of my time thinking about how to use technology to make people work smarter, writing about startups and hacking side projects. Most of my work has been in mobile apps.
I also started (with Jess, Thomas and Bela) StartupCafe – a blog focused on Edinburgh startup news. Our aim is to build an online place for the tech community. We have weekly events listings, we blog about startups and their founders, and we also have a lot of fun (check out our April Fools joke about our real cafe and startupdating). StartupCafe has been featured on the Guardian Edinburgh blog and the Guardian podcast.
On top of this, I also started CompSoc (Edinburgh Uni Computer Society) back in 2000, Hoppers (women in Informatics) in 2006, and help out at Girl Geeks Scotland.
I played rugby for Watsonians. I play tight-head prop (that’s the one of the right hand side in the front row). I’ve been lucky enough to have represented Scottish Universities and was very humbled in 2009 to be given Player of the Year at Watsonians.
